I went to watch The Sound of Music last night at Dublin Coffman High School. This musical is always a crowd pleaser and the auditorium was packed. The student who had the lead as Maria had an incredible voice, and had obviously spent hundreds of hours trying to perfect her role.
I've seen this musical many times over, whether it be live, or on TV. But last night, something changed for me. For the first time, I saw this musical in a different light. Even though I knew what happens in the end, last night, for some reason, I began focusing in on the life of Maria.
Just like the quote states, Maria's life needed to change in order for her to be in the right space, at the right time. It was clear that what was taking place in her life, was the right thing for her to grow as a person, and also in her faith in God. We don't always get it when it's happening, because we can be lost in the details. We just need to understand that life is happening for us, not to us, and we will become better individuals as we grow and experience what is happening in the moment.
