While in graduate school, I spent time working in a substance abuse facility here in central Ohio. There, I counseled individuals who were dealing with substance use disorders. Much of my time was spent counseling people in both a group and individual setting. As part of my duties at this facility, I also counseled both men and women, at the Delaware County Jail, who had various disorders and had been incarcerated due to addiction. Working in a facility like this was tough, but I now realize that it has helped me hone my skills in making people feel comfortable in a counseling setting.
After leaving graduate school, I gained extensive experience working for a community mental health agency. I counseled individuals who were experiencing a wide range of mental health symptoms including Anxiety, Depression, Substance Abuse, Trauma, relationship issues, and Personality Disorders. I also have additional training and work experience in financial issues and helping individuals achieve financial stability.
In 2022, I took on a new venture and decided to create The Sound Room at Polaris. Through all of my years of counseling, I could see how individuals were often suffering due to reactive brain patterns. This is often caused by ingrained patterns of thinking, trauma, and self limiting beliefs. I wanted to have alternative ways to helps individuals relax and shift the negative energy in their bodies. The Sound Room at Polaris uses energy entrainment, with different sound waves and frequencies, to help impact the energy centers in the body and move individuals toward a more positive state. It is my intention to also use this room to engage individuals in group therapy, yoga, and other alternative therapies. You can learn more about this room by clicking here
While being a mother of two, I've been heavily involved in working with students in the schools. While volunteering at the school, I've been in organizational leadership roles in the areas of PTO, organizing school events, and leading groups of students in various activities. Both my girls are fully grown now, so I've had tons of experience understanding the in and outs of raising kids in the current culture.
My real passion, over the years, has been in playing and coaching volleyball. My volleyball career spans through middle school, high school, and the collegiate levels. After that, I played for several years, traveling the tri-state, and competing in indoor, grass, and sand tournaments. I began my coaching career in the Dublin Youth Athletics association. This eventually led to coaching both boys and girls teams at the middle and high school levels, as well as club volleyball.
Most of all, I love to laugh! It keeps me young and healthy. Other hobbies of mine include athletics, singing, playing the piano, cooking, attending sporting events, and being involved in various volunteer activities. I'm a firm believer in body, mind, and spirit and try to stay as healthy as possible. However, just like everyone else, I struggle with keeping this all in sync, and trying to balance the demands of every day life.... (and I really like to eat!)
